Filming days. We know they’re important, but do you know what to do to prepare for them? Well, in this video I’m going to share with you what we do at Video Marketing Done For You to prepare for our filming days. Stay tuned.
Hi guys, Joshua Van Den Broek here. Founder of Video Marketing Done For You and in this video I’m going to pull back the curtain a little bit and share with you exactly what we do to prepare for our filming days.
Just to make things clear, we typically shoot our videos on a monthly basis. When we go to prepare for our videos, for me it starts the night before or the day before. Where I go and get a haircut, and I’ll make myself a little bit more presentable. I’ll have a good shave and get myself all right.
Then on the day of the filming I’ll actually go and hit the café first up. I’ll take my Mac and I’ll jump into Evernote. I’m not sure if you’ve used Evernote before but check it out at Evernote.com. It’s a cool little tool that I use to store all of my video content ideas.
I’ll have a list of all my content ideas that I’ve had from time to time stored in this one folder on Evernote. I’ll go into the café and I’ll sort through all those different ideas and find the ones that meet our editorial calendar.
Once I’ve gathered enough topics to talk about in our filming shoot, then I’ll just make sure that we’ve got enough key points for each of them, just so the content is all prepared and ready to go.
After that it’s off to the studio to ready to do some filming. Now when we get to the studio what we tend to do, we’ll set up all the equipment, all of the lighting, make sure that the couch and everything is all in place, and get ready to do a test shoot.
We’ll do a little bit of a test shoot just to see that everything is looking good, sounding good, and we’re not wasting our time shooting a whole day worth of videos with a poor setup.
Now once everything is all hunky dory and ready to go, then it’s time to start shooting your videos. Have your topics very close by so that you can do one video after the other.
After you shoot your videos and everything is all wrapped up, then send off your videos to your video editor where they’ll make it all professional.
That’s a bit of a snapshot of what it’s like to prepare for our filming days and I hope you got a few little nuggets out of it.
