Hi guys, Joshua Van Den Broek here, Founder of Video Marketing Done For You and in this video I am going to share a strategy that you need to consider before you shoot your next video.
When I talk to my clients, when we first start out shooting videos…The first question that I ask them is what do you want to get out of it? They look at me really weird, like “what do you mean? I just want to shoot a video”.
Okay but there needs to be a purpose, why are we shooting this video? What is the outcome that you are after? What is it that you want to achieve? And they just say “I just want to shoot a video”. Well the answer to that is no, we need to make it clearer because anyone can shoot a video and put it out there and have no real result.
We want to make an impact with your videos, so let’s break it down to what it is that we want to do with the video first. So there’s two parts to that.
What is it that you want to achieve in the video for you as a business owner? Obviously you are marketing your business using video, so what is it that you want to achieve?
And the second thing you want to consider is what is in it for the viewer? What do you want them to achieve? What is the outcome for them?
Because what you want to do, in every video that you shoot you want to take them on a journey from point A to point B. Simple as that, there needs to be a progression for where it is they are going. Whatever point they are starting at, you need to build on that.
So think when you shoot your next video, what is it that I want my viewers to do? What is it that they are going to achieve when watching this video? Because they are investing a bit of time in watching this video, so you want to provide value so they are getting something out of it.
Now as a business owner, obviously you want to market your business but at the end of each video we need to have a call to action. What is it that you want your viewers to be doing next? Because if you don’t ask them to do something, they are just going to switch off and watch another video. Simple as that; and that is a complete waste of time that you just spent.
So you are investing your business by doing video marketing, let’s have a clear call to action. Do you want them to subscribe to your YouTube channel? Do you want them to watch more of your videos? Do you want them to share this video on social media? Do you want them to go to your website and see some of your service offerings?
What is it that you want them to do? Be clear with it and ask them.
Did you like this video? Well if you did, I’d love for you to subscribe to my YouTube channel and see more of the videos that we have there. If you can, share this with your friends on Facebook and Twitter; we’d love to get the message out and have even more people using video.
